The Day Ginger Snapped part 28

Download wordart here

I drove the rental car down a dirt road into the middle of the desert. I wasn’t convinced that I was going in the right direction, but the car GPS system insisted this was where I should be and I had no where else to go, so I just kept driving.

Finally, after driving for what must have been hours I saw a shack in the distance and was instructed by the GPS system that I was approaching my destination. I slowed the car down and eventually stopped in front of what looked like an abandoned gas station with a very old and very small house sitting to the side of it. The house
was surrounded by an unpainted, five foot tall fence and plastered with “No Trespassing” signs.

I sat in the car thinking that I had wasted the entire day because this place looked like it had seen no signs of life for years. I was about to drive off when I realized that someone was standing in the window of the gas station watching me. I leaned forward get a closer look and to make sure I wasn’t just imagining things. I didn’t see anything else so I decided that my mind had just gotten the best of me.

I decided to get out of the car long enough to stretch my legs before making the long drive back into town. I walked around the car a few times stretching and just as I reached down to touch my toes I heard something from inside the building. I straightened up and quickly turned to face the abandoned gas station. Before I could decide if I was hallucinating or not, the door to the building swung open and a large man stepped out pointing a rifle at my rental car and then at me.

“We ain’t got no gas around here, so you better just keep moving.”

I stood frozen in place, staring at a very large man wearing overalls with only one strap buckled and no shirt. His hair was long and hung in a ponytail down his back.
He didn’t smile or say anything else as he continued to point the rifle at me, so I was surprised to hear myself ask, “Ryan, is that you?”.

Unknown text message

Download wordart here

I got a text today asking me if I wanted to get together with "the girls" for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory on June 15. I very quickly responded -----YES!

It wasn't until after I responded that I realized I had no idea who the text was from.

It's The Cheesecake Factory, so who cares! lol!

Hopefully I'll figure out between now and then who it is I'm meeting for dinner. Cause, like I said---It's The Cheesecake Factory!

Men are so sensitive!

Download wordart here

So, my neighbor and I were watching the finale of Dancing with the Stars while Orange Croc Guy and her husband sat around drinking beer and talking about sports and fishing and other man stuff.

Well, it didn't take long for the girl conversation to turn to Maksim Chmerkovskiy and the dancing we would like to do with him. (The dude is hot!)

Well, the sissy little men got all upset and OCG let us know by loudly announcing, "Seriously, we're sitting right here!"

Being the understanding person that I am I let him know that he had nothing to worry about as long as he got up and got me another drink and I was never alone in a room with Mak.

I had to get my own drink.

Men are way too sensitive!

The day Ginger Snapped part 27

Download wordart here

“So, what happened after you left the diner?” Brent begged me to tell him.

“Quit trying to change the subject!” I yelled into the phone. “My life is a YouTube joke because of you and your blog.”

I could hear Brent laughing and I wanted to smack him. It’s a good thing we were on opposite ends of the country or I probably would have.

“Ginger, have you actually watched any of the videos? They’re great and the girl who plays you is pretty cute.”

“Are you kidding me? Is that supposed to make it alright?”

“Ginger, you’re kind of famous now. It’s only natural that people would do something like that. Enjoy the laugh while it lasts. Pretty soon someone will post a new video of their cat or their kid or their drunk uncle and everyone will forget about you.” Brent said trying to calm me down.

“Well, if you’ve got an uncle, please get him drunk and video everything he does because I’m ready for people to forget about me.”

“I’ll do that, just for you. Hey, did I tell you that Alden called the bar the other day?”

My heart stood still for a moment, but I tried to sound cool when I answered. “No, I was so busy yelling about YouTube that I don’t think I’ve given you time to tell me anything. What did he want when he called.”

“Girl, I think that guy has got it bad for you! Did you really leave New York without telling him good-bye?”

I took a deep breath and tried to sound casual. “I didn’t realize I had to tell him good-bye. Besides, coming to California was a last minute decision and I didn’t know where he was and I was afraid of missing my plane.”

“Mmmm…and is there a reason that you haven’t answered or returned his calls?”

Yes, there’s a reason! He’s amazing and I like him and I’m afraid to let him know because I don’t want him to leave the way every other man in my life has.

“I don’t know. I mean I’ve been busy. I got a message from him, but I didn’t know what to say and I had to take that bus tour and…”

Cutting me off, Brent said, “Ginger, just call the man.” There were several moments of silence that Brent broke by asking if I was still there.

“I’m here, but heading up to northern California tomorrow. I’ve got another ex who is apparently living somewhere in the middle of no where.”

“What about Jeremy? You still haven’t told me what happened after you left the diner.”

“Nothing happened. He drove me to my hotel and I got out of the car. He wished me luck and I did the same to him.”

“So, where does his tally mark go?” Brent urged.

“He’s happy and sane so I say he gets a tally on the winner side of the board.”

“Ouch, I’m sorry.”

“Thanks, but don’t be sorry. He really is a nice guy.”

“Yea, but that means you’ve got one more winner than you have losers and no one is getting a free drink this week.”

“Brent, some things in life are more important than free drinks.”

“Who are you and what have you done with my friend? She knows that nothing is more important than free drinks!”

I laughed and told Brent to give everyone a hug for me before hanging up and going to bed.

I can't believe I didn't tell you...

I can't believe I didn't tell you that I actually got up last Saturday and cooked breakfast. I made bacon and eggs with ham, cheese and green onions and they weren't completely unedible.

The bacon was mostly unburned and even though most of the fillings were on the outside of my eggs you could tell that it was supposed to be an omelet. There was a definite fold in the eggs!

I was so excited!

My neighbors weren't as excited as I was when I went next door to show them my plate.

How was I supposed to know that they were still sleeping?

Here's an "OOOOOOhhhhhh!" story...

Download wordart here

Monday while my class was on the playground I had a bunch of kids run up and tell me that something was wrong with one of the girls in my class. I looked over and saw that she was sitting away from the class and all by herself.

I walked over and asked if she was Ok and she quietly answered yes. I then asked what she was doing and this was her beautiful answer......

I'm just watching God move the clouds.

Admit it-----you said "OOOOOhhhhh!"

I wanted nothing more than to sit and watch with her, but she was having a moment and I thought it was best to give her some privacy.

If you get a chance today, sit outside and watch God move the clouds. I promise it will make you smile!

What a long week!

Download wordart here

It's been a long stressful week and I have been NO FUN to be around. I have to admitt that my week ended on a better note then it started though. I got a present from one of my parents today...a bottle of wine.

I always tease the kids in my class and tell them that on their birthday they are supposed to bring me a present. It's a rule! Well, someone finally listened. lol!

I've promised to spend tomorrow with Orange Croc Guy after running errands in the morning cause I've totally ignored him lately. So, I'll probably have some OCG stories for you next week. lol!

Barbara!!! Thank you so much for finding my mistake and letting me know about it! Sometimes I type faster than I think! I've deleted it so that no one else downloads and I'll repost as soon as I get it corrected.

It's way past my bedtime now and I am exhausted! Have a great weekend!

The Day Ginger Snapped part 26

Download wordart here

We sat at a small table in a little greasy spoon diner and ordered sandwiches.
The waitress brought our drinks and walked away to wait on another table. I looked at Jeremy and smiled because I just didn’t know what to say.

Jeremy smiled back as he began to talk. “It’s good to see you, but I have to say that I really wasn’t sure about talking to you on the bus.”

“Welcome to my world! It’s kind of scary starting up a conversation with someone you haven’t seen in years.”

“It wasn’t the conversation I was worried about. It was wondering how I would be portrayed on YouTube that bothered me.”

“What do you mean? How would you end up on YouTube?”

“Well, the skits….Oh my God! You don’t know about the skits do you?” Jeremy laughed so loud that the other diners turned to stare at us. “There’s a group of college kids that are following your friend's blog and then re-enacting your stories and placing the videos on YouTube. It’s hysterical!”

“I’m on YouTube?” I sat frozen to my seat as I felt the tears build up in my eyes.

“Well, you’re not on YouTube, but there’s someone playing you in these skits. They’re really funny and have gotten like a bazillion hits.”

I placed my elbows on the table and dropped my face into my hands. “How did my life get to be such a mess?”

I felt Jeremy’s hand on my arm as he said, “Ginger, I’m really sorry. I was just surprised that you didn’t know. They’re so popular right now that I can’t believe you haven’t seen or even heard about them.”

I lifted my head and moved my hands to my lap. “Who are these kids and why are they doing this to me?”

“I don’t think they mean any harm. They’re just young and that’s what the kids do these days. They put things on YouTube.” Jeremy shrugged as he spoke.

“But how did they even know about me?”

Jeremy looked at me in surprise as he asked, “You know about the blog, right?”

“I am going to kill Brent. I mean it. I am going to really and seriously kill him and I’m going to do it slowly and painfully.” I said as I punched Brent’s number into my phone and waited for him to answer.

Jeremy looked at me with a blank stare as I left a very unfriendly voicemail message for Brent. I exhaled loudly as I hit the end button and threw the phone back in my purse. I looked at Jeremy and practically screamed, “Seriously? YouTube?”

Jeremy had a slight smile on his face as he said, “You know that phone call is probably going to be the subject of the next video.”

I looked back and forth between Jeremy and the phone in my purse several times before saying, “Oh crap!”

Jeremy laughed again and I wanted to cry. I finally pulled myself together and said, “Well, you know all about what I’ve been doing. What have you been up to?”

“Nothing as exciting as what you’ve been doing. I can’t believe you’re traveling around looking up old boyfriends.”

“Trust me, it’s more depressing than exciting.” I tired to smile. “So, are you married?”

Jeremy nodded his head, “No, not anymore. I was married once for about five years, but we were young and it didn’t work out. I was trying full time to be an actor and she got tired of being the only responsible one in the relationship. We went our own ways and she has remarried and seems to be really happy.”

“So, you stay in touch with her?”

“Not really, she still lives in the area so every now and then we’ll run into each other.” Jeremy explained.

“No girlfriend? I asked.

“No. I mean I date every now and then, but there’s no one serious in my life right now. I’m not considered a good catch.”

We both laughed and it felt good and natural. I looked at his handsome face and perfect body and wondered about the girls he dated and why they didn’t consider him a good catch.

“What do you mean, you’re not a good catch? I would think most girls would be proud to be seen with you.”

“Well, thanks for the compliment. I think my looks get me some dates, but the minute they find out that I drive a tourist bus and live in a small studio apartment while hoping to get my big acting break the girls are pretty much over it.”

I laughed. Maybe the girls had a point, but he was such a nice guy I couldn’t understand why he hadn’t found someone else. I wondered about what else was going on in his life.

“Sounds like you’re dating the wrong girls to me. Trust me, I know a thing or two about dating the wrong people.”

Jeremy laughed again as he asked, “So, tell me, am I going to get a tally mark on the loser side of the board?”

I looked at him as I pretended to consider the question. “Well, I don’t know. Have you been in prison?”

“No.”

“Do you still live with your parents?”

“No.”

“Are you now or have you ever been married to a stripper, slash mean girl, slash religious freak?”

“No.”

“Well, then I would say you’re definitely one of the best ex boyfriends I’ve got.”

We both laughed.

“Why would you think you belong on the loser side of the board? Is there some big secret you’re keeping?”

“No, no big secret. It’s just that I know driving a bus isn’t really considered a great job and I’ve been out here since I was in my late twenties trying to become a famous actor. I’ve had some small parts on TV and in some movies that no one remembers, but nothing that would make me qualify as a full time actor. I’ve even done some modeling for print ads. I drive the bus because the hours are flexible and I can go to auditions. Plus, I think it’s a great background story for when I do hit the big time. One day, I’ll live in one of those mansions and the bus that I used to drive will come by.”

I was a little worried that he was in his forties and still holding on to his childhood dream so I asked, “Have you ever thought about giving up and just doing something else?”

“Of course I have, but I’m happy and I like what I’m doing. Besides, the next audition just may be THE audition. Know what I mean?”

I smiled. “I do know and I’m happy for you.”
